Bethany Baptist Church, Caldicot - News & Events

Summer is here!

In our evening service yesterday a young lad called Michael took the offering bag around for people to place their offerings in. Once the offering had been collected Michael wasn’t sure who to give it to so he laid it at the bottom of the pulpit. On the front of the pulpit is a cross so basically Michael placed the offering at the foot of the cross.

As I watched him do this the symbolism really spoke to me. I felt God saying to me that we should all be placing our offerings at the foot of the cross. By offerings I don’t mean money but us. We should be placing ourselves at the foot of the cross and offering ourselves to Jesus.

In Romans 12:1-2 it says "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will."

God wants us to do this on a daily basis, to follow Him and put our trust in Him so that we can find out what ‘his good, pleasing and perfect will’ is for us. Do you want His good, pleasing and perfect will for your life? Silly question, why wouldn’t you?
